Red Light with the CND™ Visible Light Lamp
Red Light can support the skin’s natural processes and help the hands look fresher and more cared for. With the Red Light setting in the CND™ Visible Light Lamp, nail salons can offer it as a relaxing add-on to hand and nail services.
What is Red Light?
Red Light is a gentle light technology already widely used in skincare and wellness. The light can support the skin’s natural processes and help the hands look fresher and more cared for.
There is no downtime, and it is easy to add as a little extra self-care during a professional hand or nail service.
What can Red Light do for the skin?
Research into targeted red light therapy suggests that regular treatments with correctly dosed light may:
- support the skin’s natural cellular activity
- promote a more even and well-cared-for appearance
- support the skin’s collagen-related processes
- help improve the appearance of skin texture and elasticity
- have a soothing effect on the skin
Results depend on factors such as wavelength, light intensity, treatment time and frequency. Results will therefore vary from person to person.
What is special about the CND™ Visible Light Lamp?
The CND™ Visible Light Lamp is designed to professionally cure CND™ SHELLAC™, PLEXIGEL™ and BRISA™ using visible light rather than UV wavelengths.
The lamp also features a separate IR button with Red Light Technology. This setting is not used to cure nail products. Instead, it is designed to create an extra relaxing, spa-like experience during the service.
The Red Light setting runs separately from the lamp’s curing programmes.
Why offer Red Light as an add-on?
The hands are often one of the first areas to show dryness and visible signs of ageing, yet they do not always receive the same attention as the face.
Offering Red Light as an add-on allows the salon to:
- give clients a more exclusive and relaxing experience
- place extra focus on the skin of the hands
- upgrade a standard nail service into a wellness experience
- create a clear difference between standard and premium services
- increase the value of each booking without introducing a completely new treatment
Think of it in the same way that a skincare clinic offers LED light alongside a facial, or a hair salon offers a conditioning treatment as an add-on.
Is the CND lamp’s Red Light setting a medical light treatment?
No. The setting should be marketed as a cosmetic wellness add-on and a spa-like experience—not as a treatment for medical conditions or skin disorders.
Specific results, such as wrinkle reduction, healing or a documented increase in collagen production, should not be promised unless CND provides supporting documentation for the lamp’s wavelength, intensity, dosage and treatment protocol.
How much extra time should be allowed?
Because the Red Light setting cannot run at the same time as the curing programmes, additional time should be included in the booking.
A practical starting point could be:
Red Light for Hands – 10 additional minutes
The experience can be combined with hand care, oil or a finishing massage to create a complete premium service.
Always follow CND’s current instructions and recommended treatment time for the lamp’s IR setting.
How much can you charge?
A simple pricing example could be:
Red Light Hand Experience
10 additional minutes
Add-on price: 10 €
If combined with an exfoliation, hand mask or massage, it could be offered as:
Red Light Luxury Hand Treatment
15 additional minutes
Add-on price: 15-20 €
The final price should reflect the salon’s standard rate per minute, product costs and desired profit margin.
Our recommendation for salons
Add Red Light as a visible add-on to your service menu and online booking system. Clients should be able to select it just as easily as they would add a conditioning treatment at the hair salon or LED light to a facial.
