Why do Hot wax NOT grab the hair?

Mastering Waxing: Tips for Achieving Perfect Hair Removal Every Time.

When we wax, the main goal is to get all the hair out from the root, but when this doesn't happen, it can be due to various reasons.
There may be too much oil on the skin, which means the wax can't get a good grip on the hair, so it locks in place before removal.
It could be the application. It's really, really important that you apply the wax correctly! This means that with hot wax, the wax must be worked well down between the hairs so that it lies down at the root and locks in place. To do this, apply the wax with the tip or side of the spatula, making sure you have proper pressure so you don't slide too much and smear it on, but press and scrape it on, preferably by running over the wax again and again so that it is worked out properly. So don't use a flat spatula to spread it on! Upright spatula, firm pressure and application in the same direction, NOT back and forth.
It could also be that the wax hasn't been allowed to dry enough, so it's too soft on removal. Make sure that the wax consistency you choose is allowed to dry. You can easily mash the wax down as soon as it's applied, but if you have a more liquid wax and semi-creamy wax, it needs time to set before removal. Of course, this also depends on how thick a layer you apply. Perron Rigot Hot wax should be applied in thin layers, so if your layer is too thick it will take longer to dry and may not be able to lock around the hair when removing.
