CND™ P.R.E.P Step-by-Step

P.R.E.P. is the systematic method for preparing the natural nail before applying CND™ RETENTION+™ Liquid & Powder, BRISA™ Gel, and CND PLEXIGEL™

CND™ P.R.E.P Technik

Step 1

PERFORM A MANICURE

1. The client should wash her hands with soap and running water for 20-30 seconds and then dry them with a towel.

2. Massage CoolBlue™ Hand Cleanser into the client's hands.

3. If necessary, remove existing nail polish from the natural nail. Use an acetone-based polish remover (e.g. OfflyFast™ Moisturising Remover) and a lint-free pad with a plastic backing.

* Acetone-based nail polish removers like CND™ OfflyFast™ offer the fastest and safest way to remove nail polish. Non-acetone based nail polish removers dissolve polish more slowly and often 'smudge'.

4. If necessary, shorten the length of each nail with nail clippers.

5. File the free edge of each nail into shape with a fine file with 240 grains (Kanga™ file or Koala™ buffer).

6. Using the cuticle pusher, gently push along the nail plate towards the proximal nail fold (cuticle area) and along the lateral folds (sides of the nail) to lift and release the cuticle (non-living tissue) from the nail plate.**

** For clients who develop excessive cuticles between treatments, apply a small amount of CND™ CuticleAway™ evenly around the cuticle of each nail and perform the manicure. Be sure to wash the nails thoroughly with soap and running water for 20-30 seconds to neutralise the cuticle remover.

7. Carefully guide the curette along the nail plate to remove non-living tissue on the nail.

8. If necessary, use cuticle nippers to carefully remove loose pieces of skin or hangnails.

Step 2

REMOVE SHINE

1. Remove the shine from the natural nail surface with a fine 240-grit buffer (Koala Buffer™) in the direction of the nail growth with very gentle pressure.
OPTIONAL: If using an e-file, use an Enhancement Prep Bit at low speed with very gentle pressure.

Step 3

REMOVE SURFACE CONTAMINATION AND CLEAN THE NAIL PLATES

1. Clean the nail plate thoroughly and temporarily dehydrate the nail with ScrubFresh™. Use a lint-free, plastic-coated pad for this purpose.

TIP: When applying tips, it is not necessary to temporarily dehydrate the nail plate at this point of service. Adhesives have excellent adhesive properties in the presence of moisture, so drying out the nail plate could actually reduce adhesion. Do not apply ScrubFresh™ to the tip after application. This can soften the tip and jeopardise the durability of the modelling.

Step 4

P.R.E.P. amplifier (optional)

1. For clients prone to lifting, apply NailFresh™ only to the natural nail.

2. Clean nails thoroughly with ScrubFresh™ using a lint-free, plastic-coated pad.
