Quick and easy nail art is a fun way to boost your business. Stamping is a real time saver and so easy, that anyone can learn it. All kinds of patterns, lines and details are there, just one scrape and roll away! Learn the steps to flawless stamping!
How to succeed in stamping?
The key to flawless stamping is behind a few choices you need to make before planning the design.
Choose a pigmented stamping medium. We recommend a high-pigmented nail polish that is especially designed for stamping. If you aim for a barely-there kind of a design, a pigment powder or a gel polish will also work, but for the sake of easiness and crisp lines, we recommend working with a stamping polish.
Pro Tip: YOURS Stamping Polish is insanely pigmented and loved by nail pros worldwide. See the colors here.
Keep a lint roller at hand. A lint roller or a wide packing tape is a quick way to clean the stamper between each roll. You can also use IPA and a lint-free pad, but steer away from everything that contains acetone or oil – acetone will make the stamper dull and fragile, and oil will make picking up the pattern very difficult.
Step by Step – a guide to flawless stamping
For doing flawless stamping nail art you will need the following:
- stamping plate(s)
- stamping nail polish
- scraper
- lint roller or wide packing tape
- acetone
- lint-free pads
Attach a slice of the lint roller tape on to the table, sticky side up. This is where you clean the stamper after each transfer.
Stamping Step by Step:
- Clean the stamping plate with acetone and a lint-free pad. With the next two steps you need to be quick.
- Apply the stamping polish onto the stamping plate, right next to or above the design you want to transfer to the nail.
- Scrape the stamping polish into the carved design on the plate with one quick movement. We recommend a sturdy grip but not too much pressure and a 45-degree angle.
- Roll the stamper over the design. The pattern is now on the stamper.
- Roll the design from the stamper onto the nail in one controlled roll. Start from one side of the nail and roll over to the other side. The pattern is now on the nail.
- Press the stamper onto the lint roll to clean the residue.
- Repeat and enjoy! Remember to seal your design with top coat.
If any stamping polish gets onto the skin, clean with IPA and a gel brush. If you do stamping with a UV-cured product, protect the surrounding skin with liquid latex before stamping and remove all product from the skin before curing.
Design ideas for stamping
Stamping is a limitless resource of designs. Use color pops or full cover tips with a tip holder to practice different techniques and let your creativity loose! A few interesting things to try:
- Stamping the same pattern multiple times, layering different colors. Change the angle of the stamper clockwise just a little on each layer!
- Stamping with two different colors, creating an ombre effect on the plate. Repeat the scrape a few times to mix the colors.
- Stamping with foil gel and pressing foil onto the cured foil gel pattern. If there is a sticky layer on the nail, remove it carefully before stamping. This way the foil only sticks to the foil gel pattern and not the whole nail.
- Stamping with a pigment powder. For this you need the sticky layer of a gel polish as a base. Clean the plate and make sure it is dry before sprinkling and scraping the powder onto the pattern. Pick the powder up with the stamper and press it onto the nail. The powder adheres into the sticky layer of the gel polish. Very chic and subtle!
