The difference between Light Elegance Color Systems: P+ Gel Polish, Color Gels, Glitter Gels, ButterCream Color Gels & Gel Paints

There is a color system for every nail tech and all purposes. They differ in application, viscosity, and removal. The result should always be a perfect colored nail.

In total there are 5 systems:

P+ Gel Polish: Soakable gel polish

Color Gels: Hard gels for beginners

Glitter Gels: Ensure glitter stays suspended for NO mixing

ButterCream Color Gels: One layer application hard gels

Gel Paints: Made specifically for nail art

The most common misunderstandings about Light Elegance colors:

Perfect results require solid product knowledge. You can use the different color systems for many purposes. Make sure you always choose the correct products for your treatment.

The application is very important for all of the systems: If applied too thick, the products won't cure which can lead to a higher risk of allergies. If applied too thin, the color will chip and not last as long as it should.

Color GelsSpring-2021-CG-Group-Round

Light Elegance Color Gels are perfectly made for beginners: The gel is self-leveling and just glides effortlessly on the nail. It haves a medium viscosity.

You can even use them to correct small mistakes in the enhancement. Shaping the nail after the color application will no longer ruin the coverage and leave a perfectly fine color appearance.

Color gels were the first product Light Elegance produced. This means the formulation is a more traditional one. It’s a hard gel, the gels cannot be dissolved in acetone or other remedies. You, therefore need to file it off. They are the strongest ones from the Light Elegance color systems.

Color gels also add a little bit of strength and volume to the nail. To avoid bulkiness on your nail apply thin. The color gels are quite creamy in their viscosity and are thicker than P+ Soak-Off Gel Polishes.

It is a Hema monomer-free UV.

Glitter Gel

Spring-2021-GG-Group-Round

Glitter Gel is a mix of gel and loose glitter pigments, that can be applied over either gel or acrylic.

The gel is self-leveling and just glides effortlessly on the nail. It haves a medium viscosity.

Due to a special formula, the glitter remains floating in the gel and does not settle at the bottom of the jar. A glitter ombre has never been so easy to create.

Some of the reasons many professional nail techs prefer Glitter Gel to regular loose glitter is that it is not as messy to work with and there is much less product waste.

ButterCreams color gel

ButterCreams are a very special kind of color gels. They combine the pro's from classical color gels with some more advanced features. ButterCreams are hard gels that you need to file off.

The difference lies in their creamy viscosity.

The Viscosity that can be influenced by yourself.

If you stir the ButterCreams with a brush, they become creamier.

ButterCreams are not as runny as color gel and P+ Gel Polishes. When you apply them, they stay where you put the color on the nail. The viscosity reminds of buttercream you know from cakes.

Only one layer is necessary with most colors because they are super high-pigmented. Remember rather put two thin layers than one thick if you are in doubt. The high amount of pigments mean that you cannot cure the gel properly when you apply it too thick.

ButterCreams are also perfect for nail art. The high-pigmentation makes clear lines easily.

If you cure ButterCream 2x60sec with the LED Dot lamp, it leaves no adhesive layer and e.g. chrome pigments can be processed on top.

Due to the very thin application, ButterCream color gels do not help to strengthen the nail. But, ButterCreams are very economical as you only need a very low amount of product.

It is a Hema monomer-free UV.

Key features:

Full coverage in one layer only, perfect for nail art.

Gel Paints

Gel paints are even more pigmented than buttercream, and were created for painting nail designs. That said they are ideal for detailed nail art. You can draw very fine lines and place them exactly where you want them. One Stroke are very easy to implement. Gel paints have a thick viscosity and are non-self-leveling. Tip: You can also mix them to create new colors.

A full cover is possible but we do not recommend it because of the strong pigmenting.

They really have to be applied thinly for a correct cure.

Gel Paints are still hard gels so also here you need to file off the colors.

It is a Hema monomer-free UV.

Key features: Gel Paints can be used for detailed nail art designs, perfect for very thin fine lines

Frequently asked questions:

Can Color Gel or ButterCream color gels be added to the natural nail?

We recommend you to protect your nail with a safety layer of gel. You can use a classic hard gel from the Lexy Line or for a very easy application try JimmyGel. The reason for the safety layer is that the color gels are much harder than the natural nail. That means that they can easily break due to the flexibility of the nail. The gel layer in-between will guarantee enough strength as a base for the color layer.

Can the colors be used on acrylic nails?

Yes, apply Tack bonder on the finished filed nail. Tack bonder contains acetone that helps dissolve the acrylic surface a bit. Otherwise, the acrylic surface would be too perfect and too even - no product can stick to that. After curing Tack bonder, you can apply the desired color from any of the systems. Finish with the matching top coat.
