What does the transitional period entail when starting with Nimue?

New clients who use Nimue often experience a certain imbalance in the skin during the first 4-6 weeks - this we call the transitional period.

What is the transitional period?

The transitional period can begin to show on the skin within the first 2-4 weeks of using Nimue home care products, and will usually last up to 4-6 weeks. The symptoms of this period may vary from person to person. The customer may begin to notice the following changes in the skin: Increased sebum production, extra dryness or slightly scaly skin, eruptions and / or underlying blockages that move to the surface, increased sensitivity, hyperpigmentation may appear darker at first, and capillaries may also look more visible in the beginning. The improvements in the skin are due to the active ingredients in the Nimue program and are completely normal and actually expected. Think of it as a 'detox' for the skin.

No two brands are the same, and this is especially true of Nimue, which aims to treat the cause of the skin condition and not just soothe the symptoms or soothe it on the surface. Re-educating the skin to be perfectly healthy, self-hydrating, strong, firm and sebum balanced takes time, especially after years of using classic skin care that gives the skin "what it asks for" instead of what it actually needs! Always see the transition to Nimue as revolution. After the riots, stabilization will come - have patience and confidence in the philosophy.

What is the difference between classic skin care and a cosmeceutical?

Traditional skin care takes minimal regard of really rejuvenating an ageing skin and there is no natural stimulation of the skin's health. The focus is most often on nourishment and surface beautification.

One of the skin conditions caused by both external and internal factors is dehydration, which leads to visible wrinkles and lines on the skin - ageing skin. The face is the first to show these signs of ageing. With traditional skin care, there is no natural stimulation of the skin's glycosaminoglycans (GAGS) and thus no stimulation of natural moisture production.

Traditional skin care will focus solely on adding moisture with serum and moisturizer - the skin often requiring more and more over time - the cosmeceutical approach would be to train the skin to produce internal moisture at the same time itself. The same approach is used for dryness resulting in years of consumption of progressively fatter moisturizers and an eternal search for the next, even richer moisturizer that can satisfy the skin.

How can we make the transitional period easier? What can you do to relief the skin problems during this transition, which is both normal and in every way expected:

The transition can sometimes be extra harrowing and the skin may need help to get through it, but make sure the client is aware that it is only temporary. Here are some tips to help you get through it:

  • If the skin feels drier and more sensitive than usual: Stop using the most active products,  such as the Nimue Conditioner! Consider switching to Conditioner Lite for a few days or maybe weeks before the classic Nimue Conditioner is reintroduced - first only in the evening and maybe only every 2 days for a start.
The skin reacts to the "loss" of the rich oil-based moisturizers that were used before, and it takes time to force the skin back into gear so that it can produce more lipid. The content of AHA in Nimue's products as well as other actives such as Lacto Complex etc. will over time "awaken" the skin back to its original self-sufficient stage.
Always recommend one or more of the following Nimue products: Pre & Post serum, TDS, Super Hydrating Mask and maybe even Hyaluronic oil for the daily routine, to soothe and support the skin during this period. The softer and drier the skin was to begin with, the longer the transition period will last.
  • If the skin gets more oily and more outbreaks than normal is experienced, do not remove products from the care routine, but consider adding the Nimue Problematic Spot treatment to local treatment of pimples and / or a clay-based mask to mattify and cleanse the skin.
The most important thing here is to make sure you never skip using Exfoliating Enzyme peels 2-3 times a week. The skin responds to the deep cleansing and rejuvenating effect of the Nimue products, and patience must be shown so that the skin can have peace of mind to find the perfect natural balance in sebum production.
Feel free to recommend Problematic TDS or Pre & Post serum, if the skin feels more delicate than normal or more dehydrated at the same time but also gets rashes. If the problem is darker hyperpigmentation, do not make changes, this is very normal due to the faster cell renewal and rejection of dead skin cells, which brings the accumulated pigment closer to the skin surface, which also makes it more visible. This is of course only temporary.

It can be difficult sometimes, but try to advise the client to focus on the ultimate goal ... which is healthy and strong skin.
